Dudu Msomi

Dudu Msomi

Dudu Msomi is the CEO of Busara Leadership Partners, a research-orientated strategic advisory service and consulting company whose expertise is to facilitate the development and effectiveness of leaders to achieve their desired goals. Dudu is a corporate strategist, Leadership Expert & Coach, Diversity & Inclusion strategist, Business Advisor, Attitude and Behaviour Shifting Speaker and Writer. Msomi facilitates strategy development workshops for boards, management and entrepreneurs. She designs and delivers ground-breaking and practical bespoke seminars, masterclasses, leadership and entrepreneurship development programmes covering an integrated approach to leadership, strategy and governance.

Msomi was awarded the 2013 Laureate Award by the University of Pretoria as a GIBS Alumnus to honour her outstanding contribution to the field of leadership development, strategy and governance and recognised by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the Top 30 Influential South African Business Leaders in 2018. She is an Institute of Director’s (IOD) Fellow. Dudu Msomi was selected by the US Consulate in South Africa to be part of the mentoring programme with FORTUNE/US State Department Global Women Leaders in 2010 and a mentee on the Cherie Blair Foundation in 2015.

Dudu Msomi has a B.A. Hons. (University of Natal, Durban); Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising and Marketing (AAA School of Advertising); Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance (RAU); Programme for Management Development (GIBS) and a Masters in Business Administration (GIBS).

Msomi is an independent non-executive on the Bankserv Africa and on Vodacom Foundation Advisory boards. Dudu chairs the Social & Ethics Committee of Bankserv Africa and is a member of the Nomination Committee. She is also on the Audit, HR and Remuneration Committees of FAIS OMBUD, Office of the Pension Fund Adjudicator (OPFA) and Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). Dudu Msomi is a Trustee on the Humulani Trust (Invicta Holdings) and a member of the GIBS MBA Alumni Bursary Committee.

Dr Adrian Saville

Adrian Saville

Adrian Saville’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (cum laude), M.Com (cum laude) and PhD (Economics), which he completed at the University of Natal in 1997 and for which he was awarded the Economics Society of South Africa’s Founders Medal. He is a UNESCO laureate and a matriculant of Linacre College (Oxford). He has completed programmes in value investing and competitive strategy at New York’s Columbia University and Harvard Business School in Boston.

In 1994, while completing his doctorate in economics, Adrian formed an investment vehicle which became the forerunner to Cannon Asset Managers which he founded in 1998. In 2017 Bidvest Financial Services acquired Cannon Asset Managers. Today Adrian serves as Chief Executive at Cannon Asset Managers.

Adrian has experience in managing all the major asset classes and has successfully combined teaching and business, having lectured at the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the University of Pretoria, London School of Business, Kelley School of Business, Rotterdam School of Management and the Estonian Business School. He has held a Professorship of Economics, Finance & Strategy at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) since 2003, where he teaches in the fields of macroeconomics, investment finance and strategy. Adrian has received the Excellence in Teaching Award at GIBS one ten occasions since 2007. In 2012 he was nominated for the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Business Professor of the Year Award and in 2014 he received the Central and East European Management Development Association award in teaching excellence. Adrian’s successful career has encompassed consulting widely to government and the corporate world, including serving as an economic consultant to Visa South Africa. He has presented to global audiences in many destinations, including Botswana, Brazil, Chile, Estonia, France, India, Japan, Germany, Ghana, Kenya, Netherlands, Nigeria, Singapore, United Kington, United States, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Angela Cherrington

angela cherrington Angela Cherrington is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA). She originally joined the IoDSA in July 2004 to formalise and grow the organisation’s director development offering.

Ms Cherrington previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer having been promoted to the role in 2008 and as an executive director in 2009. Angela was involved in the field of director education for 15 years.

Angela serves on the Board and the following board sub committees of the IoDSA – Remuneration, Social and Ethics, Audit & Risk, Investment, Nominations. She also serves on the Chartered Director (South Africa) Governing Body and is Chair of the Independent Professional Body Forum, Chair of IoDSA’s Chartered Director (SA) Examination Committee, and Chair of the Public Sector Audit Committee Forum (PSACF) steering committee.

Angela serves on the Executive Committee, as Chair of the Global Network of Director Institutes (GNDI) and represents the GNDI as a council member of the International Integrated Report Council (IIRC). Ms Cherrington is also Deputy Chair of the African Corporate Governance Network (ACGN) and a Trustee of the Endangered Wildlife Trust.

Tsakani Ratsela

Tsakani Ratsela

Born in Soshanguve, Pretoria, Tsakani Ratsela, a chartered accountant (CA), was formerly the national leader: Audit Services, a strategic position that directs all audit work at the AGSA. As the DAG, she is the chief executive at the country’s supreme audit institution. She studied at the University of Cape Town and graduated with a BCom (Accounting) in 1996 and a post-graduate diploma in Accountancy (1997). She completed articles with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She also has extensive leadership experience in both the public and private sectors, having worked at, among other companies, the Eastern Cape Development Corporation and Izingwe Holdings. A passionate and active supporter of education and advancement, Ratsela was the chairperson of the CA Charter Council, whose primary objective is to grow the number of black people in the accounting profession and is also at the forefront of the AGSA’s ongoing drive to train young and talented auditors, mainly from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Victor Kgomoeswana 

victor kgomoeswana Victor Kgomoeswana is an independent consultant who has previously worked as an adviser and representative of several listed and unlisted multinationals, guiding them in their expansion in the African continent. Victor is a dynamic conference speaker, programme director, workshop facilitator and consultant on African business development. Victor is the author of “Africa is Open for Business”. Victor has facilitated various conferences and events including the annual Black Management Forum, the Annual Audit Committee Conference by Nkonki Inc, the National Treasury’s Financial Management Improvement III workshop, as well as the congratulatory dinners held by the ABSIP. He organised and led a trade conference on regional economic integration in East Africa with the Rwanda Development Board and the South African High Commission in Kigali.

Until September 2013, he was Business Development Executive for PPC Ltd, and his role was to seek for investment opportunities across the African continent. In addition, Victor originated mergers and acquisitions transactions through discussions with governments, investors, company owners to establish good relations. He also served the Chief Executive Officer of PPC Ntsika Fund (Pty) Ltd until January 2014, the enterprise development initiative of PPC Ltd, set up to support black small and medium enterprises with finance, mentoring, coaching and other forms of support.

Before PPC, he was Associate Director at Ernst & Young’s Africa Business Centre, a position he held since October 2009. He led the team that put together the database behind the firm’s Africa Interactive and Growing Beyond Borders – both tools are industry firsts among the big four firms globally. He founded and presented the weekly Africa Business Report on Talk Radio 702’s Money Show since July 2007 and on SAFM since October 2012; and has featured regularly on many other radio and TV stations locally and internationally, for example, CNN, CNBC Africa, SABC TV, eTV, East Coast Radio and Lesedi FM.

Pamela Ward

pamela ward Pamela Ward arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa in September 2017 for a four year posting as the Regional Senior Commercial Officer for Sub-Saharan Africa. This is her second assignment in South Africa, having served here as the Deputy Senior Commercial Officer from 2004-2007, during which time she received the inaugural Director General’s Award for Strategic Management for her work building a Partner Post program throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Ms. Ward most recently served as the Deputy Senior Commercial Officer for Trade Policy at the U.S. Mission to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium from 2015 -2017 following postings in Paris, France; Zagreb, Croatia; Johannesburg, South Africa; The Hague, The Netherlands; and Budapest, Hungary.

Prior to joining the Foreign Commercial Service, Ms. Ward served in the United States Commercial Service’s Export Assistance Center network as the Manager of the Eugene Export Assistance Center and as an International Trade Specialist in Newport Beach, California. Ms. Ward entered government service in 1992 as an Import Compliance Specialist investigating unfair trade practice allegations for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Import Administration. Prior to her government service, she worked in the international trade and shipping logistics departments of several multinational firms. Ms. Ward holds a degree in Business Administration and International Marketing from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is married with two children.
